I have designed a few doors. I have built a couple. Mostly, I restore,
re-purpose, repair, and repaint doors. I find good, heavy doors that
need attention, and return them to utility, beauty, and security.

A door was sorely needed. And then, voila, magic by moi.
Found this now loverly door broken, waiting to be hauled to the land fill.
Good doors are worth the effort. Hanging a door is outside most DIY-er's
above:This back door had been kicked in, and the homeowner
never even woke up. Doors of houses are easily kicked in, not because the
door is so weak, but because most door jams are as strong as toothpicks.
I have repaired quite a few jams and always include steel with long,
heavy screws that tie into the rough framing beyond the jam. I consider
even this repair a bit light, but it will slow an intruder down, and
at least the homeowner will hear the intruder while still
outside the door. Note that I used a router to inlay the steel into the new
jam face.
And then, there are all those doors waiting to be fauxed.
