- Douglas Adams

The U.S. economy was swingin' and construction equipment was in short supply. It cost $30,000 per month to rent the 100 foot man lift that allowed the MGM lion head to be painted as the hotel was being built. That's me, in the photo above, waving at the photographer. The sculpture was a failure and plans were being made to replace it even as the hotel opened. But for me, the experience was an enjoyable adventure.

above:If you don't know where these signs are located, good on ya, mate. I made 'em. Did not do any trade-outs. Took the check. Went home. Swear to god. The horns on the country bar are over 9 feet wide. I designed the hand-painted original Leghorn Bar sign. It was later reproduced in neon by Yesco Sign Company, Las Vegas.
I like to work in concrete, metals, and fiberglass. below: I've built a few concrete countertops. Concrete can be stained, polished smooth, and sealed to a high gloss. I like the primitive, megalithic nature of "unfinished" concrete. Shown is a 12 foot long slab with the top getting polished while leaving the face stone-like rough.
